LG officially announces the LG G Flex 2, and it was only the official announcement required as almost all the details were already leaked in full glory, except for the speculations that it will be running the Snapdragon 800, because this power packed smartphone will be the first one to officially have Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC, and it will run Android 5.0 Lollipop under a 5.5-inch Full HD display.
The original G Flex had a 6-inch screen, and LG has been wise enough to reduce the screen size for some comfort, while upgrading most of the internal specs. The self healing technology that was seen in the G Flex to remove any scratches or nicks, is used in the G Flex 2 as well, and the LG G3’s Laser autofocus technology is also added.
With regards to the curvy body, the G Flex 2 has a 700mm radius curvature on the display, while it comes with a 650mm radius curvature on the back. The display used in the G Flex2 is a P-OLED display. The self healing is said to be dramatically increased, as now the back of the device gets healed in about 10 seconds in room temperature, while the predecessor took about three minutes to heal.
Camera is where LG couldn’t prove itself much in 2014, but the company has packed in the laser autofocus system, and OIS+ is there as well with the Dual LED flash added to the 13-megapixel lens on the rear side, while the front has the same 2.1-megapixel camera as seen in the LG G3. The software enhancements for camera app include Gesture Shot, Gesture View and a few more, while the general OS tweaks include Glance View to view key information with a downward swipe on the screen when it is turned off, and Fast Charge to charge the 3000 mAh battery of the LG G Flex 2 up to 50 percent from zero in about 40 minutes.
“The original G Flex demonstrated LG’s pioneering spirit and with the G Flex2 we have refined the curved form factor, staying true to our philosophy of innovation for a better life,” said Juno Cho, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “The G Flex2 not only has the stunning looks, it also has the powerful guts to be at the cutting edge of current smartphone technology. Simply put, it’s a true head-turner in every sense of the word.”
The connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth Smart Ready (Apt-X) 4.1, NFC, SlimPort, A-GPS / Glonass, USB 2.0 and 4G LTE. The G Flex2 comes with 2GB DDR4 RAM, and internal storage options of 16GB and 32GB with a MicroSD card slot with support for up to 2TB.
The LG G Flex2 will be first available in Korea during the end of this month, and later will be followed in the other markets, with the color options of Platinum Silver and Flamenco Red.
