Chinese smartphone manufacturer is all prepared to work and make the next device in the R series official, as the certification is done for the Oppo R7, successor to the ultra-slim Oppo R5 that had come with the 4.85mm thickness. What is interesting to see, is that Oppo has tried to pack in a lot of features and replaced the Snapdragon chipset with a Mediatek one.
The Indonesian Telecom Certification authority has certified this device, and according to the details in it, the Oppo R7 is said to be coming packed with an octa-core MediaTek MT6795 SoC, and the device will have the 4G LTE connectivity.
The Mediatek MT6795 with eight cores clocking at up to 2.2 GHz, have a support for 2K displays (2560 x 1600 pixels), though there are no claims about the upgrade in the display resolution, from the 1080p display we saw in the Oppo R5. Though, the upgrade in camera is almost confirmed, as the R7, certified as R7f, is said to be coming with a 20.7-megapixel rear camera.
No more details are available right now, and the Oppo R7 is just expected to be a killer in terms of specs, though we hope there are improvements in the battery life, and unlike the heat up seen in the R5, the Mediatek SoC serves to manage that well, not taking away whatever the good experience is expected from a slim device.
The only devices slimmer than the R5, were the Vivo X5 Max and Coolpad Ivvi K1 Mini, boasting 4.75mm and 4.70mm in thickness respectively.
